New Friend Connections

Should have shared this here a long time ago, back in January I put together this data-driven motion graphic showing (in real time) when and where new friend connections on Facebook are made.

Sexy. What is the time-frame? It seems to pulsate at regular intervals, perhaps daytime for that region of the world?

This great, but you could give a bit more info.

It seems that all the connections are going from 1 country to another where (I would have thought) the connections with dissipate with distance (eg. I’m from Australian and most my facebook friends are in Australia).

Does this graphic only show connections made from one country to another?

It is amazing to see all those friend connections happening all over the world. It really lends credence to the fact that the world is becoming a global village. The speed of these connections will only get faster and faster, and the connections will reach every corner of the globe in due time. Soon, the connections would not be able to be tracked.
